Monday Progress Update

Last week I completed the UV and texturing as well as creating the support struts. I' going to be using these modular walls to create the three main areas of  the attic. But for I'll now be focusing mainly on creating assets to fill the attic.

The First Object I'm working on is a old wooden chair and a pillow for the bunk beds Ill be making later. If I have time I will also make a start on the bunk beds themselves.

Finally I'm also going to be doing some quick texturing in order to create the attic's floor as well.

Wednesday Project Progress

Today I began building the replacement models for the gray box walls that where set there to get a general shape of the attic.

I'm building them in a semi modular style so their easy to fit together and make the building of the attic a bit quicker. In terms of composition I'll be adding support beams in between the modular walls  to give the attic a more claustrophobic and cluttered feeling. The modular walls as they are now are to spacious which doesn't suit the environment for the mood.

I'll be moving onto UV unwrapping it and texturing fairly soon as well as beginning work on the some of the assets and flooring for the attic.

Presentation Feedback

Following the feedback from the presentation I have decided to limit the broad scope of the project. Now my aim is to focus on one of the environments and produce a scene in unity.
The environment I'm going to be focusing on is the bombed attic.

While in terms of work to be done it is the least far ahead. However it does have the strongest potential for environmental story telling and is closer to the original intent of this project. It is also the least excessive of the three in terms of scale, so I'll be aiming for a smaller but better quality environment.

So from here on out I will still be posting twice a week detailing my progress on the environment.
At the moment I'm planning the layout of the attic and where the assets will be placed inside them, the aesthetics and composition as well as concluding the list of assets I'm aiming to create.

Third Environment - Bombed Attic

For my third and final environment I'll be making a bombed out attic that people had been hiding in.
This scene will focus more on environmental story telling. Using visual clues to give the player information about the type of people that inhabit here and what they are like. This area will be going for a more confined an claustrophobic feeling.

Second Environment - Giant Bridge

For my second environment I have chosen the theme of a tiny village built into the  side of a giant's bridge. This like the palace will have a overbearing and imposing architecture in places but will be more focused on diagetic in game assets. For instance what would smaller people use for windows or tools. It would be taking a lot of inspiration from things like the borrowers.

First Environment - Imperial Palace

For my first environment I've decided to go for an imperial palace throne room based loosely off of roman architect. The main themes of this environment is large imposing and overbearing structures. I have been taking a lot of inspiration from the artist Giovanni Battista Piranesi, particularly his renderings of roman architecture. Examples below.

But I will also be using examples of ancient Egyptian  and Greek ruins as well as giant Buddhist pray wheels. Here are a few.
